I felt I needed to go on record somewhere publicly about something, and I’m not going to say what it’s about.

I’m on to something big. REALLY big. Can’t let the cat out of the bag, and to be honest I don’t know if I’ll EVER let it out of the bag, but I wanted this post to exist as a sort of “bookmark” to the day when it became really clear just how big this will be. Then, if/when it goes public, I’ll be able to point back to this little whisper in CyberSpace and say…

Just wanted to give a quick thanks to those who have given me salutes in the last few days… The Poor Sucker, MyNiche, and one other who chose not to include their name, and so I don’t know if he/she wanted to remain annonymous. Nonetheless, know that your support of my efforts is greatly appreciated!

If you do portals, ESPECIALLY if you use NicheCreator or RSSGM, you’ve got to get your butt FAST over to www.PGinsider.com. It’s a killer membership site with a limited number of spots, and the software offerings you get just for walking in the door are out of this world. I’ve been a member for a couple of days and FINALLY tonight looked at the tools I got for joining… holy crap!

And then I sat down and added the ability to build on subdomains to the mass NicheCreator builder. This is some sick stuff… in a very good way.

This has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with web automation, programming, marketing, or any of the usual stuff I ramble about here. But I was so blown away by this I just had to share.

I can’t even really begin to describe it adequately here, so just go check it out. This is really cool… really really really cool. I need to dig into it deeper to fully understand the ins & outs, but so far I’m totally fascinated.

OK, first impression…

I hate Overture results.

OK, there, I said it. My first impression about TheDowser Niche Database is a complaint. Hey, I gotta tell it like I see it.

But it’s not really a huge issue in the big scheme of things, more of a personal thing I guess. I absolutely loathe and despise Overture results. They are in alphabetical word order, rather than proper sentence order, and that makes me crazy. However, that being said… every one of my portal sites uses Overture results right now, and they do get traffic. So… is it really a problem? I suppose not. It just rubs me the wrong way.

TheDowser Niche Database sales page finally went up. I’ve been sitting here for a half hour waiting for it to go live… looks like they were running a little late. But it’s finally there, and I just bought my copy. Haven’t even downloaded it yet but I’m about to give it a spin… Hot damn I can’t wait.

There hasn’t been anything that has actually had me eagerly waiting for the sales page to go up in a long time. Well, I’m excited about this one so I really hope it lives up to my expectations…

TheDowser Niche Database

Anyone building portal web sites or doing any type of AdSense or other PPC oriented income stream, has undoubtedly run across “scraping.” It’s the concept of grabbing content from another web site, and displaying it on your own site. Now, issues of legality or ethics aside (don’t even get me started down those roads - I have vary strong opinions on the subjects that go a bit against the “mainstream”) - this has been used for a long time and is a cornerstone of how RSS feeds are used today. But it really gives you no power… all you can do is regurgitate the content. Sure, some clever people will run it through their own processor first, changing keywords, or in some cases swapping out links with their own (oh you dirty black hatter… ). But it’s possible to do MUCH more, with the same basic idea… just taken up a level.

OK, so it’s not really a “drink” at this point, but… after months of sitting idly by and not being implemented, I have finally gotten the Buy Me a Drink script going that some of my reader’s generous donations bought for me. So, check the purple box at the upper right (top of the sidebar) and click on it to “Salute the Macro King”. I’m having some fun with it… it’s got all sorts of things, from munchies and junk food to hosting and even a franchise business I think is pretty cool.

I am now sick AND tired of resurrecting this site due to webhost shennanigans! I was away on the east coast for business for a week, and during that time my previous host made a major move to a new datacenter. That’s all well & good but for some reason, MY accounts in particular, did not survive the move. This obviously caused a MAJOR whack to my adsense income (which is still in its infancy to boot!) as well as taking this blog down completely. Fortunately, I got a backup and managed to restore everything. I better be careful, I might actually start to understand SQL!
